North Island Wellington to Pokeno 2020
Wellington Region
Arrived yesterday staying in Plimmerton NZMCA for a while.
Today we took the train into the city to have a look around, we visited Parliament and the Cable Car with good views from the top and a little museum with the old-time cable cars that Robert rode as a kid.
Yesterday took the train to visit the Te Papa Museum, it was busy with a lot of people

Foxton Beach
Stayed the night at Manawatu Boating Club for $3 per person with a nice view of the river, and went for a short walk, but we left the roof vents up and it started to shower. When we arrived there were people rod fishing in the river.

Heading to Otorohanga we have hit bad weather all good for farmers and Auckland’s water shortage I hope it's helping.
We don't mind wet weather living on the road we can keep ourselves occupied with reading and tv if all else fails we get out the board games.
The day before yesterday we did a brief stop at Palmerston North before heading onto Bulls for lunch then Marton NZMCA for the night, the second time here and the camp was full both times.
Yesterday we did the shops at Taihape and then on to Waiouru for the night at the museum, in the morning we had a visit from our son Phil as he was on his way to Wellington.
Tangiwai Memorial site
Today we visited the Tangiwai Memorial site a very sad event back in 1953 on the 24th of December when the bridge was taken out and the train plunged into the river. We were lucky enough to have the rain stop for this and our next stop the Makatote Viaduct.
Then onto free camping at National Park where we are staying for the night as the rain keeps coming if needed Kiwi Camp is next door.
Waikato Region
Otorohanga
After spending 6 nights at Otorohanga NZMCA catching up on health checks and our house, just loved the flower baskets in the main street putting on a great show.
Piarere
We decided to have 2 nights at AJ's right beside the water before heading up to Pokeno to spend time with the family and get the Motorhome water tightness check for warranty, we also need to get the air suspension checked after 1 year so getting that done at the same time.
Pokeno
The second week at the farm the kids are taking a week's holiday and leaving us to look after things should be interesting.
Kylie changed farms last June the farm had been sold to housing developments.
Like the other farm we can't get up the drive to the house but that's ok we are in a nice sheltered spot with power.
Next, catch up with family and friends before heading back to the South Island in late January 2021
