We had a wonderful time with the Penguins tonight.
8 pairs and 2 chicks, the chicks and their parents were so close to the footpath I could have reached out and touched them. They didn't mind us at all just sat there watching us, the chicks stayed in the shadows and were not as trusting so no photos but so cute.
We saw one swim in and out surfing in the small waves till he got over to the rocks when he reached his partner she had come down to met him with a great display of affection, so cute.
Rapeseed plants along the way
Tonight's stay
Christchurch
This time we were here for fun, not COF and service on the motorhome.
We booked into Weedons NZMCA for 2 nights and who should be there Lynda and Selwyn Buckett.
They lived in Christchurch when they were first married and were keen to show us around.
The first lesson is how to catch a bus on a gold card.
We travelled by bus to the city centre for a look around and back to Hornby for lunch, finished the trip back at Weedons for happy hour on such a hot day.
Tonights stay
Akaroa
Staying for a few nights
Akaroa
Kaikoura
Staying a few nights at Kaikoura NZMCA.
After leaving Akaroa we had a night in Christchurch and Parnassus NZCMCA, where we met the camp Magpie such a cool little bird sitting on the roof to say hi through the roof vent and sitting on my hand then getting a belly rub from Frog.
They are doing big road works on the road into Kaikoura. It has been so hot all day with a striking sunset tonight.
Kaikoura
Been having a lovely couple of days with Lynda and Selwyn, yesterday we went for a 26 km bike ride, and today a glorious scenic walk along the coast hilltop and back via the beach perfect weather for walking overcast and no wind. We saw heaps of seals, breeding sea birds and while having lunch a pod of dolphins cruised past.
