Lake Tekapo NZMCA Camp
Popular camp on the lake foreshore with walking and biking tracks.
This camp can get very busy so if it is full the free camp 6km out of town is a good backup

We drove on the North side of the lake to the end of the road that stopped at Lilybank-Macaulay River Crossing for us as we needed to be brave enough to cross the river with no backup.

Handsome-looking cattle out here, this country is so remote I take my hat off to the farmer owner and workers
I think they were waiting for us to return to the cattle stop

We went for a drive on the south side of the lake to the road ending at the Cass River and private property.

Lovely day for a walk, we could have done this from camp but we started in town by the footbridge to the church.

Lake Pukaki
The next day we had a drive up the north side of Lake Pukaki to the road end at Mt Cook Station.
The weather wasn't great so I only stopped for a couple of photos.

Lake Ruataniwha
We had a couple of nights staying at Lake Ruataniwha west end freedom camp.
Then went back to the farm in Oaramu for 4 weeks off the road.

Back where we started at the freedom camp 4 weeks later.
The lupins are finishing and new wildflowers are blooming.
We decided to spend 3 nights here, and the last night of 2022.
