Murchison
We spent 3 nights at NZMCA Murchison, caught up with friends that we have met since starting this life on the road.
We had a walk around town and this time The Dust & Rust Vintage Store was open with new owners.
We also walked the Skyline Walk 5.74kms return from camp, the view gives a good perspective of Murchison town and the surrounding rivers and mountains.

Lake Rotoiti
We were going to stay at Tee Total Doc Camp but discovered we can use the Doc Pass at Kerr Bay Campsite.
There are plenty of walks to do here so will do what we can weather permitting.

St Arnaud Range Track (5 hr return)
It took us (11 km-5.22 hr return) from camp to Parachute Rocks above the bush line (at 1400 m), there are spectacular views from there.
It would have been another hour probably more for us to get to the ridgeline. It was a beautiful clear day with no wind.

Moraine Walk
Moraine Walk to the Buller River returning along West Bay
9 km-2.30 hr, interesting easy hike.

Rainbow Conservation Area

Glen and Coral invited us to join them on today's Tikitour up Rainbow Ski Area. Wow-what a scenic drive up the Mountain thanks guys.
There were waterfalls galore, alpine plants, trees, and rocks to marvel over.

Black Valley Walk - Black Hill Walk
A couple of walks today starting with the Black Valley Walk (30 mins) that starts just outside camp, it follows beside the stream and ends in St Arnauds.
From there we kept walking to the start of the Black Hill Walk (1 hr 30mins return) uphill with a steep descent that comes out by the lodge and joins West Bay Walk that takes us back to camp.
8.4 km - 2.22 hr loop

Lake Head Walk
A big walk today from Kerr Bay Camp to Lake Head and return, 21 km - 6 hr.

Teetotal Doc Camp
We woke up this morning to a chilling wind, so grateful to have had beautiful weather for our allotted time at Kerr Bay Doc Camp. So today we moved just up the road to Teetotal Doc Camp. We stayed here a few times last year and last time it was snowing, so it was nice to get a walk-in today. The trails have been made for mountain bikes so we were on the lookout and stood aside for one family.
We walked an 8.96 km loop - 2.20 hrs on a variety of terrain.
