Lake Ohau
So while some of the South Island is getting hammered by snow or wind, we seem to be sheltered at Lake Ohau staying beside the lake at a free Doc camp. We missed coming here last year and are happy we are checking it out this time, the beautiful lake must be busy here in summer.

Ruataniwha Conservation Park
Ohau SkiField
We walked the skifield road today. Couldn't make it 9.3 km to the top turning around at 6 km 1174 elevation with an expansive view over Lake Ohau.

Aoraki / Mount Cook
We had a night at Twizel Holiday Park on nzmca camp saver. The next day we applied for the new Doc Campsite Pass, it's going to be so easy to renew it every year now thanks Doc.
O stop White Horse Hill Doc Camp for 3 nights at Aoraki / Mount Cook. The overnight temperature got down to -5 with a brilliantly sunny day we walked to Kia Point an easy walk. Then onto Sealy Tarn, a very difficult walk for me, not quite reaching the Tarns but Frog went on while I had a rest taking in the best of views. The climb up is mostly steps and steep with snow and ice making it tricky underfoot even more so coming down. At least 3 people we saw had fallen at least we weren't one of them.
Aoraki / Mount Cook
Another great hike today from camp to the Red Tarns and then home via Governors Bush, 11 km return 4 hours.
Enjoyable walk but can't believe we did another climb today.

Aoraki / Mount Cook
Yesterday was our last day at Mt Cook, on the way out we walked the Tasman Lake/ Riverwalk, Blue Lake walk. 5.6 km 2-hour return with heaps of time for admiring the view.
Had a fabulous time with great weather making all the difference.
Last year we had wind and left before it got dangerous.
We have completed all the walks out here now and are happy to do 3 of them again that aren't mountain goat tracks.
Twizel
Back at Twizel Holiday Park- nzmca camper saver for 2 nights.
We arrived in a hoar frost yesterday that had been here since we left days ago, it is a sight to behold finishing this afternoon to a beautiful day.
We caught up with friends from Port Waikato days for coffee, then a drive to look at the fading frost.
