Otago, Glenorchy just a little sidestep before the Southland Region
Fantastic day driving in the most spectacular scenery, we went over the Lindis pass then over the crown range road. We ended up in Glenorchy staying at the Glenorchy Hotel (free stay) so trying out the restaurant tonight.

Te Anau
Yesterday we had a rest day with just a drive into town. Today we did the cycle trail from Te Anau to Manapouri, the trail isn't finished yet with about 8km by road to Manapouri. I was happy we turned around where the trail finished a total of 42kms return.
A couple of photos from our rest point.
An early start in the morning for the Milford Sound tour.

From Te Anau to Milford Sound
Yesterday we had an early pickup from camp by our tour minibus, great service.
The photos are along the road to Milford we were so lucky with the weather, giving us great reflections on the lakes with plenty of stops and morning tea supplied.
While we waited for the tunnel light to change we were greeted by a Kea what a treat.

Milford Sound
Our boat trip was great with only a shower of rain as we got off, apart from getting wet from the spray of the waterfalls. The scenery is amazing and we got to see penguins, fur seals, and dolphins.
A couple of stops on the way home with two cheeky Kea to delight again.
It was a 10-hour trip and certainly worth every cent.

Doubtful Sounds
What a day in Paradise...
We started in rain and it rained all day our tour guides said they preferred rainy days as it makes the waterfalls pump, true but it is not the best for viewing the beautiful bush mountains and waterfalls out rain covered windows and low cloud, just didn't have the same effect as Milford Sound on a beautiful day and no wildlife insight. Did we regret taking the tour in the rain, hell no!! But we think it would have been so much better on a fine day.
We drove to Manapouri and took the first boat across the lake, then a bus trip to Doubtful Sounds to our second boat and returned the same way 7-hour trip.
Back home tonight at NZMCA Te Anau.

Goodbye, Lake Te Anau you sure are special.
