Coromandel
NZMCA Tonight’s stay. When we have a shit of a day we have a shit of a day
All went well in Thames stocked up for the Doc camp at Port Jackson top of Coromandel 30km up a gravel road with no shops so we want to get enough on board to last us 14 Days.I decided to check out the WiFi and unplugged it when I plugged it back in smoke poured out of the fitting we had installed by an auto electrical shop in Hamilton so won’t be using that for now. Managed to get another lead in Thames to run the WiFi from a different port.
Then tried to use the dump station in Thames for the second time and the line waiting was ridiculous.
Decided we will head for Coromandel and use the dump station there good idea but no the Coromandel dump station is blocked!! Frustrating and late for having lunch we decided to spend the night at the NCMCA camp.
Thames
Tonight’s Stay, another sucky day, and on our anniversary.Things started off great this morning Coromandel dump station had been fixed, so we did our washing at the laundromat then headed for Port Jackson there is 28km of very poor narrow gravel road that we had been warned about so Robert was taking his time with extra care.
10km from the Doc camp something hit the water tank drain that seems to be very low on these Motorhomes, snapped it off and we lost all our water. We had no choice but to flag Port Jackson and go all the way back to Thames to get the necessary bits to fix the tank and refill.
So frustrating we were so looking forward to spending 14 days at the Doc Camp and catching up with Jacque and Robyn.
We won’t chance the road again any time soon.
I think we need to sleep on it before deciding where we go next.
Needless to so can’t wait to get our air suspension so we have more clearance!!!!
Big shout out to Robyn and Jacque they have the same Motorhome as us and have already had this happen to them, so we knew exactly how to fix it and wasn’t surprised when it happened as Robyn had warned us about it only wish it didn’t happen all the way up there hours from good hardware.
The second shout-out is to Reads hardware in the Main Street of Thames because we had lived here we knew where to go for what we needed and yes they stocked it and yes they even cut it to the required length.
Anyway, we are sitting here having a beer and a wine or maybe two tonight.
(All in a day of living on the road)

Port Jackson back to Thames Coast
Kauaeranga Valley
Doc campsite, tonight’s stay. We are booked in for 4 nights to do the walks. All good for the internet
There are powered sites here for an extra $6 per night.
Short walk to the Model Dam
Been humid sticky weather up the valley today hopefully we will have more energy for some walks tomorrowWe went for a bike ride up the valley to the first walk this morning, the road is unsealed past the info site, and in bad condition very high ruts and not ideal for our motorhome, so happy to leave it at camp and use the bikes.
We got a call from Zion they are ready to do our Air suspension installation next week, we need to take care of stuff first so will leave here early.
