We had a walk around the waterfront and town then went and had a look at the car ferry the tide was out so there was no way we could get on there.

Russell to Paihia

Paihia
Bumped into Lynda and Selwyn on the waterfront they are heading off to have family time now with their daughter and family.
We had a look around the waterfront and town that was full of police everywhere because Prince Charles was at the Treaty Grounds.

Haruru Falls
5km our of Paihia with lots of chickens

Kerikeri
Tonight’s stay booked in for 3 nights at the NZMCA Park at Rainbow Falls Kerikeri.

Rainbow Falls Kerikeri
Kerikeri River Track
Great bushwalk we enjoyed immensely 9.5 km 3 hrs return with the walk around the stone store and grounds, which are beautiful lovely cottage gardens making me a bit homesick for Te Kuiti Tui Ridge Garden never mind at least I didn’t have to weed it lol they had gardeners working on it while we were there. It’s a wonderful setting with a huge park for heaps of enjoyment for all who visit.
Needless to say, we had a rest this afternoon, the camp nowhere near as full as last night.

Puketi Forest
Arrived at Puketi Forest.....gravel road in but not bad no traffic so could take it slow.
One track still open the others closed because of Kauri die back risk.
We did the one hour track and moved on it was so hot in there no wind and no other campers.
The Beautiful Majestic Huge Kauri we were allowed to see don’t show how large they are in the photos.
Well worth the trip in.
